IT'S SNOWY IN MANLY

15 JUNE, 2012

As the Queens Birthday weekend came to an end so too did the 25th anniversary of the CJ "Snowy: McAlister at Manly Beach.
A star-studded field of over 150 national and international longboarders relished in the highly contestable 2 to 3 foot conditions.

The Pro Nine-Foot premier event saw some of the world's top longboarders in Taylor Jensen, Dane Wilson, Nick Jones, Matt Aldridge and Heith Norrish come together against Northern Beaches locals Christian Pimm and Lawrence Harkness.  It was however current world champion Jensen who thrilled the crowd, claiming the inaugural title and $7000 prize money, with Sunshine Coaster Nick Jones taking out the Under 18’s.

The local contingency also made waves with Aloha Team Rider & Manly favorite Cameron Gray winning the log division, while club president Rod Aulburn prevailed in the Over 35’s and Lynden Riley claimed the 55’s.

Organiser Rod Aulburn said despite the torrential rain at times over the weekend, he was thrilled to witness the world class display of surfing, and the success of the event lays the foundations for an even bigger show in 2013.
