Matt Bemrose

His vertical backhand attack is still considered among the best in the business. Once a WQS journeyman, he did his time on the road and an impressive collection of trophies serve as proof that on his day he can beat anyone.
In 2008 Matt was crowned the Australian Open Champion, in the same year he was also a valuable member of the victorious Australian team at the ISA World Surfing Games. With the World Tour now a distant memory, Matt divides his time between freesurfing, selectively competing, and managing the Australian Volcom team where he imparts valuable experience to the next generation. He is still regarded as one of the best surfers in Australia and one of the most dogmatic competitors to ever ride a surfboard.
